VISA APPLICATION GUIDELINES:

The process for applying for a Austria Work visa (National Visa D) from Bangladesh typically involves the following steps:

A Visa D allows stays in Austria for 91 days to 6 months with one or multiple entries.

Please be aware that you cannot extend a Visa D in Austria. If you plan to stay longer than 6 months, you must apply for a residence permit.

  1. Determine the Type of Work Visa You Need:
    • Austria offers various types of work visas based on your employment situation, such as Red-White-Red Card (for skilled workers), Seasonal Work Visa, or others. Determine which visa category you fall under.
  2. Find an Employer or Secure a Job Offer:
    • You will need a job offer from an Austrian employer to apply for a work visa. Make sure the employer is willing to sponsor your visa and provides you with the necessary documents, such as a work contract.
  3. Begin Your Application:
    • Download the visa application form (Visa D) for Austria.
    • Fill out the form completely and accurately.
    • Print the completed form.
  4. Book an Appointment:
    • Once you’ve filled out the application form, you can drop it off at the Visa Application Centre without scheduling an appointment.
    • Before visiting the centre, verify its opening hours to ensure you submit your application at the right time.
  5. Pay Your Fees:
    • Prepare to pay the visa fee, VFS service fee, and any optional service fees in cash (in Bangladeshi taka) at the Visa Application Centre.
    • Refer to the provided fee table for the specific fees based on the visa type you’re applying for.

For stays in Austria over 6 months:

  • If you plan to stay in Austria for more than six months and you’re not from an EU/EEA/Swiss country, you’ll need a residence permit.
  • For EU/EEA/Swiss citizens staying over three months, they must get a “confirmation of registration of Right of Residence under EU law.”
  • Different types of residence permits are available, like the Red-White-Red Card and permits for students and researchers. You can find details on these permits on the Austrian government’s migration platform.
  • You need to apply for your residence permit in person at the Austrian Consulate in your home country before coming to Austria. Appointments are usually required, and you can find this information on the Consulate’s website.
  • The required documents for each type of permit can be found on theAustrian government’s Migration Platform.

Processing time:

Visa applications typically take about 10 working days to process after the Embassy or Consulate gets all the needed documents. Sometimes it can take longer if they need to check things more carefully, like with interviews or extra papers. Especially during busy times, it might take even more time. To be safe, apply at least two weeks before your travel date, and earlier if it’s during holidays. Remember, the Embassy or Consulate makes the visa decisions, not VFS Global.

Important notes:

  • Consider the duration of stay before applying. If planning to stay longer than 6 months, apply for a Residence Permit. Visa “C” is valid for up to 90 days, and Visa “D” for 91 to 180 days. Both visas cannot be extended in Austria.
  • Any representative must provide a letter of authorization from the applicant and attach a copy of their valid photo ID to the application.
  • The applicant is responsible for all contents of the application.
  • Applications cannot be submitted earlier than 6 months before departure.
  • Submit applications at least 1 month before the intended travel date to avoid passport return to VFS due to late submission.
  • The applicant agrees to use VFS Global Services Pvt. Ltd. for applying for a Schengen Visa at the Austrian Desk.
  • Additional documents may be requested during the application process, and applicants may be called for an interview if necessary.
  • Ensure all required documents are submitted as per the checklist provided to avoid application rejection.

Note: It’s important to note that each visa type has specific requirements, application procedures, and validity periods. For details and specific eligibility requirements, it’s best to consult the Austrian authorities: Federal Ministry of the Interior: https://www.bmi.gv.at/ and Austrian embassy or consulate in your home country.
